There was a time when the no pants trend (trust us, it’s a thing) was only seen on celebs like Hailey Bieber, Blake Lively and Kendall Jenner.
But just like owning a home or finding a takeaway coffee under $5 that doesn’t taste like battery acid, the days of pants-wearing being a necessity outside the house is over.
And no, it’s got nothing to do with the cost of living (although if it could bring house prices down I’d be the first in the country to go pantless).
Like side boob and G-string bikinis, the no pants trend is just yet another fashion craze that’s started with celebs and has finally trickled its way down to the mainstream.
And if you needed any indication of just how big it’s going to be in Australia, take a look at Country Road’s Autumn collection.
The iconic Aussie retailer has gone viral on TikTok for its fashion-forward new pieces, which includes a blazer dress that has me reassessing the need for trousers.
The best bit? The blazer is slightly longer than what celebs have been wearing, so you can wear it to the office without fear of flashing your boss, but it’s still the right length for an evening out with some heels.
But if you haven’t quite warmed up to the no pants trend just yet there’s plenty of other pieces from Country Road’s new range that has shoppers swooning.
The navy pinstripe suit – I love it and I don’t even like navy.
Then there is the beige leather-look strapless top layered over the white tee (that’s sadly sold out at the moment) and the long line column skirt.
While Country Road is a brand that’s famed for its heritage and loved by every single Aussie suburban mum, the new collection is a modern breath of fresh air, according to fans on TikTok.
“Country Road is in its slay era,” one shopper commented, while another wrote they were “truly obsessed” with the collection.
Customers said the pieces were a “mic drop” as they had “nailed every single thing” with “Country Road on point”.

What You Need To Know
These pants are hard to scroll past.
I would opt for the Oat Milk colour (also comes in Hunter Green and Black), as the versatility of the lighter shade would be the perfect addition to my wardrobe. The pants are also made from polyurethane and polyester with viscose rayon in the lining – which creates that leather-look we all love at a significantly lower price point.
The tailored structure of these pants make them the perfect combination of ‘dressy’ (great for the office, important meetings etc) while the fabric provides an edgier look that’s perfect for either low sneakers or a high heel for a girls night out.
Soft Single-Breasted Blazer, $399 at Country Road
What You Need To Know
The cherry on top of this magnificent outfit sundae is the soft single-breasted blazer and, while it comes at a higher price point, sometimes it’s worth investing a little more into staple pieces (like a blazer) that will be on high wardrobe rotation. This one only comes in Oat Milk but luckily for me, that’s the colour I’d be choosing anyway.
I’d pair this blazer with the double pleat pant and a simple white tank or slim-fit T-shirt underneath. You could also choose to keep it simple and wear this blazer with jeans or simply just over the top of a basic white dress – the possibilities are endless.

What You Need To Know
I’ve saved my favourite piece to last, because I still haven’t quite recovered from seeing this item for the first time.
It’s an easy entry into the ‘no pants’ trend, without actually having to forgo pants.
Nevermind the fact that the fabric was “woven in Italy” (although I do love how fancy that sounds), this blazer dress is simply stunning. It’s classic, sleek, textured, the perfect length, it’s smart but edgy, versatile (can be worn by itself or paired with a skirt) … it’s perfection and I would wear it exactly how it’s styled on site.
Made with a blend of linen (64 per cent) viscose (36 per cent), I specifically love the thickness of this blazer and the structure throughout the collar and shoulders. Again, it is pricier, but if it’s grabbed your heart as much as it has mine, you get just enough wear out of it to justify the splurge.
