A HIGH-END Gold Coast jewellery shop is selling a pair of jewel-encrusted chopsticks for six figures — and they encourage eating with them.
Paul and Karol Amey’s Erotic Jewellery Co in Marina Mirage have created a pair of opulent chopsticks — selling for $198,500 — made from 18-carat gold.
The pair, who opened their shop two months ago, said they hand-crafted the chopsticks because they were “sick of using horrible cutlery from the kitchen sink”.

“We like fine dining, especially high-end Chinese but it’s never served with the right cutlery so in jest I decided to make my own,” he said.
Mr Amey said the chopsticks, which took 340 hours to create, were not only functional to eat with but also wear.
“The pearl is removable and can be worn as a necklace,” he said.
Mr Amey said he believed the bejewelled chopsticks would increase in value so any “lucky buyer” would be making an investment.
Mr Amey, a jeweller who has created more than 50,000 pieces, said he was “old school”, manufacturing each by hand.

While the Main Beach shop’s security is “state of the art”, the business owner said he still had sleepless nights.
“It has to be pretty darn good. Jewellery isn’t just our business, it’s our whole life.”
The chopsticks aren’t the first utensil the jewellery designer has created.
“We eat with our two $125,000 forks as often as we can find somewhere decent to go.
“Fellow diners applaud us because they’re so impressed.”
Other items he’s created include a $260,000 jewel-encrusted gold goblet.
