A NEW caravan cafe is bringing a slice of 1970s nostalgia to the Coast and the man behind it is “excited to have some fun”.
Beachside restaurant Burleigh Pavilion has reopened and to celebrate the easing of coronavirus restrictions they have also launched the “The Van”.
The 1970s Viscount caravan turned cafe is selling fish and chips, acai bowls, juice and bakery goods on Burleigh Hill.
Owner Ben May said he came up with the idea after COVID-19 hospitality restrictions “decimated” his business.

“The last couple of months has been a painful time,” he said. “Takeaway and sittings restricted to 10 diners is frustrating.
“But this tough time has allowed us to be creative.
“We hope the caravan can stick around and we’re excited to have some fun.”
The Van is opened from 6am-6pm every day.
A four-course feast and drinks package at Burleigh Pavilion’s Beach Bar Balcony is $150 per person.
