Temple of Beauty owner Chrissy Schultz says she was one of three people offering eyelash extensions on the Gold Coast 15 years ago, so your peepers are in safe hands with her. On top of adding pizzazz to your lashes, Temple of Beauty’s menu includes cosmetic injectables, spray tanning, facials, waxing and tinting. “We do amazing eyebrows and we have our own tanning solution,” Chrissy says. “We keep our prices pretty reasonable. We always put in 150 per cent, we’re always honest, we love what we do and we have fun — it’s happy positive vibes here. We’re right near the beach in the heart of Broadbeach and our salon is really unique looking with crystals and amethyst. We get a lot of complements on it.”

No matter the mood you’re in when you arrive at your appointment, Burleigh Heads’ Elysium beauty salon will have you smiling when you leave. “When people are coming in they are often tired, stressed in need of rejuvenation,” Elysium owner Jen Tagget says. “Nothing makes my team happier than to make that customer leave feeling refreshed. It warms us to see this transformation.” Elysium has a range of everyday treatments from lash lifts to manicures, as well as more advanced options including cosmetic tattooing, skin needling and LED therapy. “The LED light therapy is our most popular — I absolutely love this treatment,” Jen says. “It works on reactivating the living cells with no pain or downtime and can leave the skin absolutely glowing with less wrinkles.”

After 27 years operating Maxwell’s Beauty Clinic, Julie Maxwell knows her skin. The Main Beach business owner says everyone from teenagers with problem skin to celebrities visiting the Gold Coast trust her to help improve their beauty issues. “We do everything the old fashion way, as a very therapeutic treatment,” Julie says. I’m very into skin care ingredients, I have my own product range which are active plant extracts. We do a bit of teenage acne as well, to educate those young children as to why they get pimples in the first place. Often it’s what they’re putting on their skin — 60 per cent of the acne is from products.” Maxwell’s signature facial, pedicures and electrolysis hair removal are among the salon’s most popular treatments.

Hinterland Beauty Therapy owner Michelle Slade keeps communication open with her clients to build a trusting relationship. “I will tell a client wether a treatment will benefit them or not,” she says. “I don’t want them to spend money where they don’t need too. I want the everyday lady to come to me knowing it will not break the bank to pamper themselves.” She says she offers an affordable range of treatments with the most popular option the lash lift and tint. “I just love the way my clients get a huge smile on their face when they see what their lashes look like and how it’s opened their eyes,” Michelle says.

Rendez Vou Beauty Emporium owner Kylie Rodman says plenty of clients take advantage of her salon’s extended trading. “We open until 7pm Monday to Friday, that’s one of our biggest points of difference,” she says. “After 5pm are the times that always book first.” The Hope Island business offers a range of “everyday” treatments including waxing, tanning, manicures, pedicures and lash extensions. “Our biggest service is manicures and pedicures — nails and toes,” Kylie says. “We’re giving that old fashion service: you get the same person every time, it’s more like our staff are working on a friend than a customer.”

It’s nature in action at Clean Beauty Market Spa, a Mermaid Beach beauty studio with a focus on gentle but functional products. “Even though we’re natural, we’re clean beauty that works,” owner Erin Norden says. “Clean basically means safe ingredients in the products. We have a curated collection of results-driven brands, with skin care it’s really high performance.” For those new the clean beauty concept, Erin suggests the salon’s signature facial with an extra skin or grooming treatment for good measure. “We’ve got the signature clean facial which is a one hour treatment,” Erin says. “People can add on different things to that, like hydromicrodermabrasion, or get their brows done at the same time.”
