Beauty Diary: 3 amazing products you don’t have to queue up for

Aussies scrambled to buy a new limited-edition product, with shoppers describing it as “more stressful than buying a Taylor Swift ticket”.

Beauty Diary: Five new products set to take Australia by storm

Aussies officially lost the plot this week when they queued outside a popular store in the early hours of the morning in a bid to snare a limited-edition beauty product.

Some described the scramble to get hold of the new item as “more stressful than buying a Taylor Swift ticket”, while others documented their “hunt” to track one down on social media.

So what is the item that has sent people into a spin?

It was the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Pallet in the special “Edit Unlocked” edition which went on sale at Mecca on October 15, priced at a cool $149.

While some beauty junkies were lucky to snag the face palettes, available in three different versions to celebrate the upcoming Christmas holidays, others complained the in-demand product was “out of stock almost instantly”.

“Can’t believe they have sold out already, it’s insane,” one vented online.

“Every year they come out and people go crazy for it,” another agreed.

As one said: “I went to three different stores and they were all out of stock.”

Even those who took one home joked it was like an “Olympic sport” after finding large queues outside Mecca stores.

“Only thing that will get me out of the house before 9am,” one joked.

“Had to hunt it down but eventually I found one,” revealed another.

Some shoppers managed to buy all three versions of the limited-edition palette, racking up hundreds of dollars in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, with one woman spending almost $620.

But those who picked up multiple palettes sparked anger with their spending habits.

“No one should have been allowed to bulk buy,” vented one.

“It’s not fair that some were able to get so many while others got nothing,” raged another.

Each of the palettes contain six different shades, five of which are new, of the brand’s “best-selling” Ambient Lighting baked blush, bronzer, and highlighter powders.

However, Hourglass sells individual products from the range all year round, so you don’t have to queue up (and spend an exorbitant amount of money) to buy a great beauty product.

I’ve also pulled together a couple of other cult-beauty items that are equally as impressive.

If you’re on the hunt for a product that enhances your own skin without hiding it under a layer of product, this is it. Fans describe the translucent trio as a “game-changing filter-like finishing powder” and I can see why. It sets makeup, blurs imperfections and finishes with a brightened complexion. There are three different shades, which are very subtle, to cater for every area of the face and I am obsessed with them all. When I use it, my face looks super glowy, and I am convinced it makes me look far less tired than I actually am – and I skipped the mayhem of trying to buy the limited-edition version too which is an absolute score.

I’m a huge fan of light foundations and this recent launch has earned a spot at the top of my list. When applied it has a satin finish with buildable sheer coverage that I finds applies really easily. I love that it doesn’t dry out my skin, probably because it contains a bunch of hydrating skincare ingredients – plus it’s fragrance-free. The product also contains SPF 50.

I can be very guilty of ignoring my hair because the whole process can be pretty time consuming – but I’m trying to make sure I style it a few times a week as I find that when I feel good about my hair, I feel good about myself. I’ve always heard good things about Cloud Nine products, but only started using this straightener a few months ago, and I’ve been so impressed. The device itself is really lightweight and I love that it heats up to my desired temperature really quickly. The plates are really smooth and glide through my hair, and after use, my locks don’t feel dried out at all, in fact they feel really soft and glossy. My favourite thing about the Cloud Nine In-1-Contouring-Iron Pro is that the design of the product has made it really easy to create curls, and I’ve found on my fine hair, the style holds which is quite a remarkable feat. Absolutely love these straighteners.
