Beauty Diary: Sonia Kruger reveals 10-minute self-tanning ‘hack’

Sonia Kruger has shared the “hack” she swears by for looking “sculpted” at the beach – leaving fans of the TV host stunned.

Beauty Diary: Five new products set to take Australia by storm

Sonia Kruger has revealed the secret to being “beach ready in 10 minutes” at aged 59 – and it’s all thanks to a small Aussie start-up.

The TV star recently opened up about how her at-home tanning attempts used to be a “disaster”, stating it all changed after she found Three Warriors, a natural fake tan brand which hails from Tasmania.

While Gold Logie winner recently launched her own product with the brand, a gradual tanning serum that gives skin a subtle glow, the brand’s founder said Kruger was a “long-time fan” long before they created the Radiant Complexion Serum together.

“Her history with the brand goes back to when she first used our Self-Tan Mousse, which launched in 2017, after being introduced to it through a make-up artist she met on set,” Corbin Halliday told news.com.au’sThe Beauty Diary.

“I created Three Warriors, a ‘toxin and cruelty-free’ tanner, after being diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS).

“It was caused by overexposure to environmental toxins while working as a hairdresser for the best part of a decade.

“Over the years, as the brand grew, so did our relationship with Sonia. Her support and backing have been integral to our success.”

10-min trick behind Sonia Kruger's 'beach ready' look

Kruger quickly came on board as a brand ambassador, with Three Warriors CMO Meagan Pate, explaining the team often discussed what her “dream product” would be.

“It took three years to turn her vision into a reality with the creation of the Radiant Complexion Serum,” Ms Pate said.

“She wanted to create a self-tanning serum because she understands the importance of taking care of your skin, especially on the face.

“With constant cleansing and makeup use, the face tends to get lighter than the rest of the body, and traditional tanning products don’t always address that.

“Sonia saw the need for a product that not only gave a natural glow but also nourished, hydrated, and repaired the skin. That’s how the Radiant Complexion Serum came about — combining skincare and self-tan into one simple, effective step.”

Since it launched in July, the $80 item has “sold out” multiple times, a feat Mr Halliday said “felt incredible, especially during such a challenging economic time”.

“The formulation delivers effortless luminosity, perfect for those embracing a ‘less makeup’ look while still achieving healthy, fresh-faced radiance,” he added.

“We were very mindful of the price point too, making sure it represented real value. At 60mls, it’s double the size of most serums and lasts over 3 months, so people really feel they’re getting quality without the extra cost.”

Kruger herself is a also a huge fan, naturally, telling news.com.au’s The Beauty Diary it’s a “permanent addition” to her skincare routine.

“My make-up artist Simone Forte loves that the serum keeps my face hydrated overnight and in the morning my skin already has a nice base,” she said.

“The best part is, after I take off all my TV make up and I’ve applied the Radiant Complexion Serum, I know I’m going to wake up with a beautiful glow in the morning. For busy working mums, we’ll take anything that works while we’re sleeping.”

In a video recently shared on social media, Kruger went into further detail about how she uses the entire Three Warriors fake tanning range, describing it as the trick to having the confidence to go make-up free and feeling “beach ready”.

“Let’s face it, tanning at home used to be a bit of a disaster,” she said in a make-up free promotional video for the brand.

“I’m not going to the beach unless I have a bit of tan on, as swimsuits are getting smaller, I’m getting bigger, so I need some coverage.

“[Fake] tan makes me feel like I look healthy, and also evens out my skin tone.”

The Seven presenter, who currently hosts Dancing With The Stars and The Voice, went on to state she will use “lots” of the Three Warriors Self-Tan Mousse to “cover the blotchy” parts of her body.

After applying it to her body using a mitt, she’ll buff the difficult areas such as her knee and wrists with a brush, before then using the same accessory to “sculpt” her face – describing it as her “personal hack”.

“Can you believe it, that took 10 minutes,” she ends the clip, before adding she was “ready” to hit the beach and enjoy her weekend.

Fans are equally as positive about the brand’s products, with one writing in the comments section: “Only tan I’ve used that is a great colour, totally organic and importantly NEVER comes off on clothes.”
