Don't miss out on the headlines from Andrew Meadowcroft. Followed categories will be added to My News.
After SinCity abruptly closed earlier this year, Artesian Hospitality, which owns the business, confidently broadcast that they would open again in Surfers Paradise.
Thanks to the office of Liquor and Gaming, we can reveal that the location of the ‘new’ SinCity is at The Forum, Surfers Paradise. The site was once occupied by gay club ‘The Meeting Place’.
USHER, USAIN BOLT, AMBER HEARD: INSIDE THE WILD WORLD OF SIN CITY
With the lights switched on in the venue for the first time in years, the old club is certain to have a slick reno in keeping with the SinCity brand.
Just as well as we are certain Bernard Tomic wouldn’t want his trendy moon boots getting stuck to the old gum covered carpet at the former MP’s. Oh, the memories.
MILAN ON MAIN TO REOPEN WITH NEW OWNERS
There is some movement around the restaurant scene at Main Beach. Long standing Italian Restaurant, Milan on Main is set to reopen with new owners, much to the delight of locals.
In other restaurant news, popular Hope Island Restaurant Ladybird has packed up and headed to Main Beach. Their new premises are on the waterfront at Palazzo Versace, a space formerly occupied by short lived Indian Restaurant Kokum.
Ladybird at Palazzo Versace is set to open next month. News that is not so welcome is that Beaches off Tedder has announced they are closing their doors from tomorrow after trading for over 5 years.
POPULAR EATERY GOES OFFSITE
The team at popular Social Eating House + Bar at The Oracle have decided to step out into the offsite catering arena. Gypsy Social will focus on smaller events to begin with and the strategy seems to be working with next month already fully booked for private events. Nice work!
SOCIAL SPOTLIGHT
Locals were pleased as punch with the opportunity to frock up and head trackside for some spring carnival racing action. Aquis Park hosted a Garden Party in the Dome, sponsored by Gordon’s Pink Gin. The well-dressed crowd were treated to a delicious lunch in air-conditioned comfort. If you missed out on attending, another Garden Party is being hosted at The Dome on 24th October. See you there!
CORPORATE CONFIDENTIAL
Why did a wealthy ‘man about town’ and landowner suddenly have a change of heart? He was very vocal about his dislike about a certain company who wanted to lease one of his commercial properties and kicked them to the curb, leaving them without a venue to open their hospitality business.
However, the boisterous businessman has now handed over the prime space to the company. With the owner not short of a dollar, it has left some scratching their heads to figure why the sudden turn around?
Perhaps it was the strike of COVID that changed his mind and his continual hunt for the almighty dollar?
