When the COVID-19 hit and lockdowns were implemented some locals decided to sit back and relax, others hit overdrive button and decided to spend the time creating new opportunities. One of those motivated locals was Georgia-Lili Howe. The quietly spoken 18-year-old made use of the COVID-19 ‘downtime’ by developing her own vintage clothing business. Machia et was born.
With the assistance of Gold Coast Women in Business spearheaded by public relations specialist Karen Phillips and Hit 90.9 Gold Coast, Georgia was selected to receive small business training support and retail mentoring.

The Oasis Broadbeach teamed up with the two established businesses and decided to create an opportunity to assist and empower an emerging female talent on the Gold Coast. The beachside shopping centre had available retail space and offered the young entrepreneur a temporary tenancy on level one at The Oasis.
“I was so excited not to only receive some mentoring from Karen, but when I was told I could have a pop-up store at The Oasis I was blown away,” said Georgia-Lili.
Machia et sources discarded or unwanted items, restores them, and sells the sustainable vintage items
“It is my small way to positively impact the environment by recycling fashion and saving it from landfill.” said Ms Howe.
The pop-up store is located on level one at The Oasis until February.
