“At the end of the night of the Lady Mayoress’ Ball, I watched Annie walk out of the The Star ballroom and I thought well there’s goes that,” said Cowboy Dave.

“It wasn’t until Pam Collis, a Queensland producer called me and requested some make up and wardrobe trucks for the filming of ‘Children of the Corn’, it just so happened that Annie Kinnane was the production manager.”

FULL DIGITAL ACCESS: JUST $1 A WEEK FOR FIRST 12 WEEKS

On wrap of the Children of the Corn production, the only film shooting in the world due to the close down of the entire industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dave proposed to Annie at the Fairmont Hotel in the Blue Mountains.

After the nuptials, Dave who is known for his signature cowboy hat and Annie are hosting their reception at The Australian Outback Spectacular.

Christmas Spirit is available…for a price!

After an incredibly challenging year for most of us, at least we can take solace in the fact that Christmas celebrations are starting earlier this year. Christmas trees are up, council holiday banners are on light poles and we are all focusing on being festive just a little bit earlier this year. The kidlets are unable to sit on Santa’s lap, but it is all about the Christmas spirit correct?

Well, you might need to hold that thought. Many major shopping centres on the Gold Coast have outsourced their festive operations and it will hit your hip pocket. Your little darlings can interact with Santa…for a price. The kiddies wish list is soft compared to the list of terms and conditions for shopping centre Santa visits which include sanitiser, physical and social distancing, no touching Santa policy and booking conditions harsher than Annastacia Palaszczuk’s border control policy. Fair enough with the COVID-19 safety restrictions in place, however it comes with a hefty price too.

ULTIMATE GUIDE: WHAT YOU CAN DO ON THE COAST THIS CHRISTMAS

Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Robina Town Centre, Westfield Coomera and Stockland Burleigh Heads you must prebook a spot for your children to visit Santa. A minimum spend of $23.95 for two 4 x 6 photos is required. A booking fee is applied as well making the cost of the visit to see Santa $25.95 minimum. No pay, no Santa meet and greet. If you would like to spoil your loved little ones more, you can spend $50 and almost $100 with all the extras including more photos, calendars and magnets. All the essentials during a pandemic. Memories are priceless right?

As children see Santa in an enchanting Christmas Village, it is the parents that must deal with the drama. They have to explain to the kiddies that you cannot see Santa without a booking and parents need to pay a minimum $26 bucks for the pleasure. Did someone say Grinch? Enter stage right…children’s tanties and tears!

‘Santa for sale’ at major shopping centres is already causing parents grief. Don’t even think about whipping out your mobile to take a snap of your children with Santa even if you book…that isn’t allowed. Tis’ the season to be merry!

With bookings required, at least put Santa’s wonderland in a private space and out of view from the children’s eyes who simply walk by and want to see Santa, even just to relieve parents from additional stress this festive season.

CORPORATE CONFIDENTIAL

Did we hear that not one, but two celebrity chefs are eyeing off apartments in a yet-to-be built apartment tower? The development is plush to the max with stunning views of the Broadwater and city. Could Tedder Ave continue the trend of moving upwards in the right direction with new tenancies already popping up?

The rumour the Tony Percuoco of Tartufo fame was planning on opening a restaurant in Tedder Ave has been dispelled from the man himself, however we hear there could be another eyeing off a tenancy in Tedder Ave.

Speaking of Tedder Avenue, there was a war of words between some business owners and a truck driver yesterday. The ‘water truck’ stopped beside parked cars and fired a hose to water the trees lining the avenue. No car was spared as it was blasted with water whilst trying to reach trees, which I can assure you didn’t get much of a drink.

The freshly polished Jaguars, Mercedes and BMWs all received a half wash. One business owner started taking photos of the truck and its driver whilst yelling “You can’t do that!” The truck driver returned fire by stating he could.

It certainly was fabulous viewing whilst having a mid-morning coffee at Main Beach. The stunned and perplexed reactions from drivers returning to their cars was simply priceless.
