Gold Coasters will whip out their cowboy boots and dust off their hats as the Groundwater Country Music Festival kicks off on Friday.
The free three-day event in Broadbeach will showcase the best of country music with multiple stages at Kurrawa Park and nearby streets.
Country music superstars including Troy Cassar-Daly, Brad Cox and Jackson Dean, will be performing at the festival.
Rising local stars will also hit the stage including Gold Coast’s very own The Pickups, who will be the official house band for the festival, and back-up artists like Claudia Tripp, Emily Grace Taylor and Skyamore from Canada.
The festival will also be raising funds for Farm Angels, an organisation which provides support to struggling farmers.
Founder Tash Johnston said there was a “natural alignment” between the country music industry and rural and regional farming families.
“They go hand-in-hand, both being built on resilience, community connection and heart,” she said.
“This year has been particularly tough for Queensland farmers, who have faced record-breaking floods.
“These natural disasters don’t just affect their homes, it affects their livelihoods too.
“Many will be left to pick up the pieces for another three or five years at least.”
Attendees will be able to round up their purchases at the festival to support the cause.
Locals are reminded Surf Parade, between Queensland and Victoria avenues, and Oracle Blvd will be closed for the event and re-open on Monday at 1pm.
