The Scoop: Qld celebrity, business, sport news and gossip
Just weeks after a controversial exit, one Brisbane radio host appears to have landed back on his feet. WE’VE GOT THE SCOOP
Peter Fegan may have already landed his next on-air chapter following his dramatic exit from 4BC, and it appears the former breakfast host isn’t staying sidelined for long.
Scoop understands Fegan has quietly begun a new weekly role on SENQ’s Breakfast with Corey Parker and Ian Healy, after joining the duo in the studio on Friday in what insiders suggest will not be a one-off occasion.
Sources say he is expected to become a regular fixture on the sports-focused breakfast program in the coming weeks.
The move comes as Fegan delivered an unexpected final flourish in the ratings following his abrupt dismissal from 4BC, recording a surprise surge when the latest GfK Radio 360 survey dropped this week.
In his last official on-air result, Fegan grew his audience by 1.2 percentage points, a notable boost just weeks after being quietly shown the door.
Fegan was removed from his 4BC breakfast post just three days after the previous survey results were released in mid-October, blindsiding both listeners and staff.
His final show aired on October 17, where he signed off by telling audiences he would “be back Monday”.
Hours later, an internal email confirmed he wouldn’t be returning at all.
Now, with SENQ offering a fresh microphone and familiar audience, it seems Brisbane’s airwaves haven’t heard the last of Peter Fegan just yet.
COUPLE SPLITS FOLLOWING RUN-IN WITH THE LAW
High-profile Gold Coast restaurateurs Steve and Autumn Adams have announced they’ve split after both were caught up in a dramatic cocaine bust.
The former couple, who run popular Glitter Strip nosheries Moo Moo and Blowfish Ocean Grill + Bar as well as a Moo Moo restaurant in Brisbane, were both hit with multiple drug charges after being arrested last August in a police operation targeting cocaine trafficking.
Mrs Adams was fined $1500 and sentenced to a one-year good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to nine cocaine possession charges earlier this year.
Mr Adams was sentenced to 180 hours community service after being sentenced for supplying and possessing cocaine.
In a recent social media post, he revealed that he and his wife – who were both fixtures on the Gold Coast social scene – had “sadly decided to separate”.
“This is a mutual decision and we can assure you that we are and will always remain the best of friends,” he wrote.
“As far as our business is concerned, nothing changes and we will remain committed business partners and are excited for the future of our restaurant brand.
“We will always love each other, treasure our happy memories and are so proud of what we have achieved.
“Our daughter Summer remains our No.1 priority and we will always be in each others lives as a family. We genuinely wish for each other to be happy and move forward in life with the support of each other …”
Speaking outside court after she was sentenced, Mrs Adams – who now goes by the name Autumn V Grainge and has posted social media pics and videos with another man – said she had grappled with “a fairly heavy drug addiction” and the coke bust was “the wake-up call I needed”.
“I am feeling happier, healthy and enjoying my life now,” she said at the time.
“There is no point looking back just looking forward.”
STAR MAY RETURN TO RADIO STATION IN CHAOS
Nova’s breakfast throne may be heading for its biggest shake-up in years, with whispers of a major overhaul intensifying after Ash Bradnam’s shock on-air exit on Friday.
Scoop understands Bradnam is likely to be replaced in the new year by outgoing Hit Network host Nick “Ducko” Allen-Ducat, who recently confirmed his departure from Hit Newcastle’s long-running Jess & Ducko breakfast show.
Industry insiders say plans involving Ducko have been quietly in motion for weeks, with sources suggesting his name has long been on the table as a preferred replacement capable of ushering in a new era for Nova’s flagship breakfast show.
But the reshuffle may not end there.
Sources close to the station now suggest Nikki Osborne could also be preparing to bow out, less than a year after joining the breakfast team in January 2025.
Osborne stepped into the role after Olympic legend Susie O’Neill announced her departure in late 2024, but insiders say the comedian has increasingly been broadcasting from home and is struggling to balance the demands of the role with her Sunshine Coast commute, motherhood and her comedy career.
There is also quiet chatter circulating within Brisbane radio circles that Osborne did not fully enjoy the on-air dynamic with Bradnam and David “Luttsy” Lutteral, further fuelling speculation her exit may come sooner rather than later.
In another dramatic twist, insiders are now saying Osborne’s replacement will be none other than the woman she originally stepped in for, Susie O’Neill. Sources close to the situation claim O’Neill is set for a return to Nova breakfast in the new year, just a year after walking away from the show.
Despite publicly embracing her slower-paced life away from radio, O’Neill has recently shared a stream of gardening content, with insiders telling Scoop the former Olympian has grown restless and is eager to return to the studio, missing the routine, energy and connection with listeners that came with the breakfast timeslot.
“She’s given retirement a go and she’s over it,” one insider told Scoop. “Susie is bored and she wants back in.”
“From what we’re hearing, it’s all but locked in that she’ll be returning to Nova breakfast in the new year. This isn’t just talk, it’s being treated internally as a done deal.”
The speculation comes despite the current trio riding a ratings high.
Ash, Luttsy & Nikki Osborne topped the latest GfK Radio 360 survey with a whopping 13.2 per cent share, marking their second consecutive win in the Brisbane breakfast slot, ahead of Triple M’s Marto, Margaux and Dan on 11.9 per cent and B105 on 11.7 per cent.
The stellar result, released only on Tuesday, has now been thrown into question, with insiders suggesting 2026 could usher in a radically different line-up, with Luttsy tipped to be the only remaining original voice in the trio.
Nova and Susie O’Neill were approached for comment.
‘COOL DAD … FOR NOW’: ILAI MATANGI’S KIDS REACT TO HIS TIKTOK TRIUMPH
Fresh from one of the biggest nights of his life, Queensland content creator Ilai Matangi has revealed the moment that truly stole the show wasn’t on stage – but with his kids.
The Caboolture-local, real name Ilai Havea Siaufusi O’Auhangame Matangi, made history on Wednesday night in Sydney when he became the first Pacific Islander and first male creator to win TikTok Creator of the Year at the 2025 Australian TikTok Awards.
But despite the flashing lights, screaming crowd and career-defining accolade, Matangi’s thoughts were firmly back home.
“Honestly, I was in disbelief,” he admitted. “As soon as my name was called I had to ask myself, did they really just say my name? The very first people I thought of were my wife and kids.”
And while his family cheered from the crowd and his extended loved ones watched proudly from home in Queensland, it was his post-awards moment that won hearts online.
In true girl-dad fashion, the creator shared photos of himself on his night of nights carrying his daughters’ shoes.
When asked how his four kids felt about their dad now being recognised among TikTok’s elite, Ilai joked it had briefly boosted his cool factor — “for now.”
“Definitely extra cool points,” he said. “But they’ll probably expire by tomorrow!”
For Ilai, this win was never just about him. As a proud Tongan creative, he said the recognition represents something far bigger for the Pasifika community.
“You don’t see a lot of Tongan-Pasifika creators in this space, so to be nominated across all of Australia is huge. I didn’t just win for my family — I won for them too.”
Having previously taken out Comedy Creator of the Year in 2024, Ilai says the whirlwind success still feels surreal — but insists fame hasn’t changed him one bit.
“I went into this award knowing who I was, and I’m leaving it the same person,” he said.
And what’s next for Queensland’s newest digital king?
“Keep making people laugh — and keep being the best girl dad I can be.”
BIG BROTHER REDDIT ‘INSIDER’ EXPOSED AS FAKE IN EXPLOSIVE BEHIND-THE-SCENES SMEAR
An anonymous Reddit post claiming “terrible” behind-the-scenes conditions at the Big Brother house has been gaining significant traction online, with the supposed “production insider” alleging burnout, manipulation and attempts to stop certain housemates from walking off the show.
Shared to the r/BBAU Reddit forum and viewed by hundreds of thousands, the post accused producers of running an under-resourced crew, forcing storylines and orchestrating diary room moments on Network 10s Dreamworld-based production on the Gold Coast.
It also alleged notable contestants were being given special treatment to prevent them quitting early.
The post further reignited online discussion around one male housemate facing unverified domestic violence allegations, with the anonymous writer claiming producers were aware of the accusations prior to casting, claims that remain unproven.
The allegations quickly spread beyond Reddit and were even referenced by media personality Mitch Churi on The MitchChuriChat Show.
However, Scoop has been told the claims are “complete fiction” and the viral post was authored by someone with no connection whatsoever to the Big Brother production, who has never stepped foot on set.
“There are a lot of inaccuracies in the claims, especially about the live streams,” one insider told Scoop.
Industry insiders believe the post was a calculated attempt by a disgruntled individual with a vendetta against specific housemates to stir chaos and gain online attention.
One insider said the viral claims had caused frustration among legitimate production staff currently working onsite at Dreamworld.
“A lot of us are presuming it’s just someone random trying to stir trouble and ride the attention wave,” the source said.
The original poster claimed they were “at the end of their rope” and described Big Brother as a “nightmare of a job”, but offered no verifiable evidence to support the assertions, instead stressing they could not reveal identifying details to avoid “doxxing” themselves.
Network 10 has not publicly responded to the Reddit claims.
As speculation continues to swirl online, industry sources maintain the Big Brother production is operating as normal, and that the viral post says more about internet outrage culture than the reality inside the house.
