The Masked Singer Australia unmasks American TV star

A new “international megastar” contestant was introduced to The Masked Singer, and unmasked in the very same episode.

Tori Spelling has been revealed as Poodle (Masked Singer Australia)

WARNING: Spoilers

Masked Singer fans were treated to a special episode on Wednesday, as a brand-new competitor was introduced to the show, and revealed in the very same episode.

Ten had been teasing that one-episode wonder Poodle would be an “international megastar,” with ads heavily hinting we might have a second Spice Girl in our midst. Judge Mel B seemed utterly convinced the Poodle was her Baby Spice bandmate, Emma Bunton.

And at the end of the episode, after two performances, the Poodle was revealed to be … 90s TV star Tori Spelling. Oh. International megastar? For Beverly Hills, 90210 fans, perhaps.

According to Osher, Spelling was only in the country for two days to film the show.

“Australia has been on my bucket list. I’ve never been here,” the actress responded when asked why she came for the speedy trip.

“I’ve always dreamt of coming here, and Masked Singer, it’s such an experience... Even though it terrifies me,” she added.

All the clues had pointed to Spelling, with references to Victoria (her full first name) and having male and female names (Tori’s middle name is Davey). There were references to her chequered movie career, with Scream, House of Yes and Biker Mice From Mars all getting not-so-subtle namechecks.

The clues package also referenced Spelling’s five dogs, her bestseller author status, her stint on Dancing With The Stars - and her time as the Unicorn on the first season of The Masked Singer US.

Spelling’s reveal comes after Tuesday’s episode of the show say arguably the biggest celeb reveal in Masked Singer Australia history, with former Destiny’s Child superstar Michelle Williams revealed as the performer inside the Microphone costume.

With a string of global number one hits, Destiny’s Child sold more than 60 million records during their career, most of them after Williams joined the group in early 2000. In record sales alone, Williams is the biggest name the show has landed in its four seasons so far.

And the panel were clearly starstruck, with Abbie Chatfield reduced to tears at the sight of Williams and Mel B declaring her an “icon.”

The love affair went both ways, with Williams labelling the Spice Girls the “blueprint” and saying she was so excited to finally meet Mel after Destiny’s Child never bumped into the Spice Girls in their heyday.

Three remaining contestants head into Sunday’s Masked Singer season finale: Rooster, Snapdragon and Mirrorball.

Meanwhile, affable Masked Singer host Osher Gunsberg delivered a surprisingly stinging clapback on Twitter during Monday’s episode of the show, after a viewer complained he’d “spoiled” the result of the episode after it had aired on television.

“Oh I’m so sorry that I came into your house, unlocked your phone, and forced you to look at an app,” he replied.

The Masked Singer season finale airs 7:30pm Sunday on Ten.
