MAFS star Josh White has hit out at the Logies for airing an “emasculating” clip of him during the televised awards.

A Married At First Sight Australia participant from the latest season has vented his frustration after a scene discussing his manhood was used to highlight the show’s nomination during Sunday’s TV Week Logie Awards.

Josh White, who was paired with seemingly sex-crazed bride Melissa Sheppard on the show, did not like the way footage featuring him and his bride were used to highlight MAFS’s Logie nomination for Most Outstanding Reality Program.

“I was watching the show, obviously at home, but I was putting my kids to bed so I missed the segment,” he revealed on 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin show this morning.

“But I got a message from [fellow groom] Rupert saying they used footage of me, which I thought was odd, right? I mean I had only been on there for a couple of weeks out of a 12-week run. And then I watched it yesterday during lunchtime and I was really taken aback.”

“There’s two beautiful couples that went the whole way, wouldn’t you celebrate them instead of show something really emasculating towards me?” he told hosts Dave Hughes, Erin Molan and Ed Kavalee.

In the clip, which Josh also shared on his Instagram Stories for context, the reality star looked completely dejected as his “wife” Mel questioned his manhood at the Commitment Ceremony. Josh said the scene brought back bad memories from his brief time on the show – and he believes it would have done the same for his onscreen wife.

“It was a difficult moment in time for Mel as well. Does she really need to relive it?” he asked, before revealing he was hurt after seeing the audience laugh when the clip was aired inside The Star auditorium in Sydney.

“When you watch the footage, you can actually hear the crowd in the audience react to the footage that they were seeing and I just thought it was so at odds. Wouldn’t you rather celebrate the love rather than something like that?”

Playing Devil’s Advocate, Hughes ask asked Josh if he knew what he was getting himself into signing up on a show life MAFS.

“Surely you are an intelligent man, and you would know that they find something they blow it up. You had to know that going into it!” the radio host asked, to which Josh replied: “During the run of the show, absolutely you would understand that, but if you’re at an awards show and you say, ‘Hey, this is what this show represents’, I don’t think you would play that clip.”

Josh reckons the Seven Network – which aired the Logies for the first time this year – should have chosen a clip from the show that was more “uplifting”.

“I don’t see any point in putting footage of me on a couch and someone saying whether I’m a man or not,” he said.
