MORE than 1800 Queensland students from 126 schools across the state are set to take the stage tomorrow for the state’s biggest schools talent show spectacular – Creative Generation.
Audiences are set to be treated to performances highlighting some of history’s most special moments and milestones, while taking a peek towards the future.
The large-scale state school talent event is celebrating its 15th year with an important theme – “Our Time”.
Built on humble beginnings, about 550 excited state school students took to the stage in its inception, and in 15 years it has grown to be Queensland’s largest annual youth performing arts event with more than 1800 talented students.
The audience will feel a sense of nostalgia watching the young talents take the stage, with vision from when dial telephones were introduced and the first man on the moon.
There will also be a movie medley with performances of modern-day classics like Ghostbusters and Footloose.
The theme, Our Time, was chosen to take people back in time to the world’s greatest triumphs and celebrations, learning from the past and embracing what’s ahead in the future and what legacy this creative generation will leave behind.
Act one will feature performances, including Don’t Stop Me Now, Time After Time, It’s My Life, My Heart Will Go On and more.
The second act will have performances including Respect, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Single Ladies, Uptown Funk and more.
Hosted by Network 10’s Emily Dickson, the show will feature performances from students from kindy to Year 12.
Maddison Marks from Ormeau Woods State High School is part of the Footloose performance, and said dancing on stage for Creative Generation was “really exciting”.
“I love that it is like a big community that’s all really friendly and really supportive and is just overall fun,” she said.
“We’ve actually been chosen a few years in a row to come back and perform.”
The students will perform four shows – two on Friday, July 19, and two on Saturday, July 20, at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
