Rebel Wilson isn’t sure she “would have ever met” partner Ramona Agruma if it wasn’t for her first onscreen kiss with a woman.
The 42-year-old actress got candid with the Hollywood Reporter about how kissing co-star Charlotte Gainsbourg in her upcoming movie The Almond and the Seahorse altered the course of her life, Page Six reports.
“I’d never kissed a woman before so I was thinking, ‘Oh God, how’s that going to go?’” the Australian actress told the outlet, adding that she was the one who suggested a woman play her love interest in the film.
“I don’t know why I said that but I just felt it could work,” she revealed.
“I had kind of had a situation with a woman before, not a sexual relationship and we hadn’t kissed or anything. But then the kiss with Charlotte came up. I didn’t think it was that big of a deal or anything.”

She continued, “If I hadn’t had the experience with Charlotte or the experience with the other woman, I don’t know if I would have ever met [partner Ramona Agruma]. Having those experiences opened my heart up to it as a possibility. I’m grateful for those two experiences. It changed my love life completely.”
The film, which will be Wilson’s first dramatic role, was filmed in 2021 – just a few months before she met the jewellery designer.
Wilson came out as a member of the LGBTQI+ community shortly after in June 2022 by introducing fans to Agruma on Instagram.
“I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess 💗🌈💗#loveislove,” the Pitch Perfect actress captioned a selfie.
The twosome sparked engagement rumours just seven months later after sources told Page Six they were gushing about their engagement at the Casamigos Halloween party.
Wilson also welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Royce Lillian, via surrogate in November.
While it was unclear whether or not Agruma was co-parenting the newborn at the time, she has since opened up about the difficulties of motherhood.
“You start thinking about someone else instead of yourself,” Agruma said on an episode of The Morning Show.
She continued, “Priorities change, when you think like, ‘Oh I wish I would go have a massage or something.’ Like no, I just want to spend time with her and be at home.”
