WILL Captain America reveal that he’s in a homosexual relationship with Bucky the Winter Soldier?
That’s what some fans are pressuring Marvel to do, with the hashtag #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend trending on Twitter.
For those who aren’t too familiar with the history between Steve Rogers aka Captain America (played by Chris Evans) and Bucky Barnes (played by Sebastian Stan), here’s a quick recap:
• In Captain America: The First Avenger, best mates Bucky and Steve Rogers fight alongside each other in World War II. But at the end of the film, Bucky falls to his death, or so we are led to believe.
• In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America discovers that Bucky isn’t dead but was instead rescued and brainwashed by HYDRA into becoming an assassin known as the Winter Soldier. After an epic fight scene with Captain America, Bucky starts to remember his true identity and ends up saving Captain America’s life.
• In the latest film, Captain America: Civil War, Captain America assists Bucky to overcome his brainwashing by helping him remember more about his past.
But some fans aren’t content with the two men being just good mates. They want Marvel to out them as a couple.
Steve Rogers fought 117 nations & gave up the shield for Bucky. If that's not love, I don't know what love is #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend

I will say that Cap/Bucky have the best love story in any of the Marvel movies. #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend pic.twitter.com/3fej4FDPUU

In the latest film, Captain America: Civil War, Captain America shares a kiss with Sharon Carter aka Agent 13 (played by Emily VanCamp).
It’s then revealed that Agent 13 is actually the niece of Captain America’s recently deceased girlfriend, Peggy Carter.
They'll pair him with anyone including his dead ex-girlfriend's niece but not a man? #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend

steve can date his dead girlfriend from the 1940's niece but apparently him having a boyfriend is unrealistic #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend

Marvel fans aren’t the only ones pushing for a homosexual relationship to be featured in an upcoming film.
A few weeks ago Disney fans took to social media to petition to give Frozen’s lead character, Princess Elsa, a female love interest in the film’s sequel.
