Hugh Jackman is officially “bulking” up to play Wolverine again.
The Australian superstar shared a photo of his daily meal plan as his bulking phase goes full steam ahead of filming Deadpool 3, where he’ll reprise his famous Wolverine role opposite his good mate and online sparring partner, Ryan Reynolds.
The film marks Jackman’s first time playing Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Bulking. A day in the life,” Jackman wrote alongside a pic of the six meals he’ll eat each day.
“Thank you, Chef Mario, for helping me stay healthy and properly fed while … Becoming. Wolverine. Again.”
Jackman’s meals include black bass (2000 calories), Patagonia salmon (2100 calories), two chicken burgers (around 1000 calories each) and two steaks (1100 calories each). That means Jackson is consuming over 8000 calories a day now as he gets bulked up for Wolverine.
Jackman’s post is the latest in a series of online content he and Deadpool 3 co-star Ryan Reynolds have shared as they both prepare for the highly anticipated movie.
Last month, the Canadian actor posted a photo, which showed him lifting two 27kg weights in each hand, working out for the movie and poking fun at his co-star.
“I’m not training for Deadpool,” Reynolds posted to his Instagram stories.
“I’m training to spend several months with @thehughjackman — who’s not as nice as everyone thinks.”
Jackman then responded with his own workout photo mimicking Reynolds, alongside his fitness coach Beth Lewis.
“He’s only 46. I’m older. But it’s not a competition,” Jackman teased in the caption as he flexed with a dumbbell in the photo.
The Logan actor also reposted Reynolds’ earlier story, adding an “Ur cute” sticker with a heart.
In an interview earlier this year, Jackman said his fitness routine to don Wolverine’s famous claws would be his “job for six months”.
I’ve learned that it takes time,” he said, adding, “So, we have six months from when I finish [Broadway’s The Music Man] to when I started filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.”
“I’m really fit right now,” he added of his stage performances. “There’s one thing that about eight shows a week being on Broadway singing and dancing, is I’m fit. So, I’m healthy. I have a good place to start.”
Jackman finished a stunningly successful 12-month run in The Music Man on Broadway in January. It was Broadway’s most popular play of the past year.
