MASTERCHEF has been spotted filming on the Gold Coast during the hit television show’s first visit to Queensland.
Crowds gathered on the footpath of Burleigh beachfront this morning as contestants, crew and the trio of celebrity chefs hosting the show filmed a challenge on the sand.
Accompanying co-hosts Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris, Matt Preston was particularly hard to miss, thanks to an unusual pale blue suit with shorts he adorned for the shoot.
Speaking from Burleigh Beach as swimmers and surfers took to the waves on the overcast day, a spokesman for Network 10 said the cast, crew and competitors would spend the day filming on the Gold Coast before jetting off to another location in Queensland, potentially Ipswich.
They would not be drawn on the exact nature of the challenge held on the beach, hoping to avoid spoiling anything for keen fans.

The hosts of MasterChef had sampled some of the Gold Coast’s eateries and rated them quite highly, the spokesman added.
MasterChef is screened globally, providing significant exposure for the Coast.
“The show is seen in 180 countries around the world so it’s great to showcase Queensland, they said.
“It’s excellent to show off how beautiful the Goldie’ is.”
Penny Ballantyne of Reedy Creek, Natalie Rhodes of Varsity Lakes and Deborah McGibbon of Robina were just a few of the beachgoers who had crowded around the shoot to catch a glimpse.
They were excited to spot the hosts of MasterChef and hoped to see more TV and film producers make the most of the Gold Coast’s inspiring scenery.
Tourism and Events Queensland were involved in bringing MasterChef to the state.
