Guests at an invite-only after-party following Drake’s first Brisbane show were forced to surrender their phones at a Fortitude Valley hotspot on Monday night.
At the private supper club soiree at Artesian Hospitality’s TAMA Supper Club a strict no-phone policy was enforced with guests required to give up their devices on entry. Their phones bagged pre-entry and then retrieved at the end of the night.
Guests arrived in a convoy of black Mercedes vans with heavy security.
Drake reportedly arrived at around 1am and left at around 4am.
Approximately 60 hand-picked women attended with some girls turned away at the door. There were no males present outside Drake’s entourage.
Artesian’s new venue, previously a light-filled space, now features blacked out windows to feed into the VIP undercover atmosphere.
The hospitality giant - with a strong portfolio on Surfers Paradise party strip Orchid Avenue and now in Brisbane - has previously entertained icons of the music industry including Justin Bieber, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Usher and Lil Wayne plus sprinter Usain Bolt and actress Amber Heard.
The Take-Care artist was also spotted living the high life at the popular Broadbeach seafood restaurant Blowfish on Sunday evening.
A source said the Blowish soiree was a “very happy atmosphere around the bar”.
“There were lots of girls coming in from around and everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun. There were plates of food coming out and certainly the drinks were flowing.
“[There would have] easily been 50-ish [people] if not more, maybe 70, there were (other) customers there as well. So there was a lot of security.
“Security were just positioned everywhere. There was five or seven limos out the front of Blowfish - all black limos and it was quite evident something was going on. So it stirred a bit of interest, certainly. Put it this way there were numerous people who noticed him.”
Drake joins a crew of celebrities frequenting the Broadbeach venue in recent months. Among those spotted recently are Australian actress Isla Fisher and Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul both on the same night, A-lister Mark Wahlburg and Michael Pena.
Super-selling rapper Drake was also spotted at The Oxley’s new Latin American restaurant Norté Mermaid Beach on Saturday night.
Among the 30-strong Drake supper club at Norte was venue co-owner Nick Woodward, Artesian Hospitality’s managing partner Matt Keegan and a slew of Gold Coast fashion models and local social media personalities.
A source told GC at Large that Drake picked up everyone’s tab in his group – plus surprised other diners unrelated to his soiree by picking up their tabs too.
