“All of my friends had been telling me to do it for ages,” he said. “Because I had no experience, I kept putting it off. I was watching videos of The Voice in America and I thought I’m just going to do it.”

“I didn’t expect it. I hadn’t performed much so getting up there was such a huge step for me. I would have been happy with just one chair turn. I wasn’t expecting four at all.” Picture: Jerad Williams

“Guy was more my style of music and I’ve always been a fan of him. He’s been on a show like this before (Australian Idol) so I felt he could put themselves in our shoes.”

He is now aiming to make it through the next round.

“I just want to go out and show people I want to be in this for the long run. It’s a passion of mine.”

Asked if his goal is to be a famed international artist he said: “Definitely. That would be hitting the lottery.”
