Gold Coast prepares for electronic dance music festival Circus Paradise

The Gold Coast is set to become home for some of the biggest names in electronic dance music as a new festival opens this weekend.

THE Gold Coast will be home to some of the biggest names in electronic dance music as Circus Paradise Music Festival opens in Southport.

The festival is holding its inaugural event on Sunday afternoon in the Broadwater Parklands, featuring international and local acts performing across three stages.

Headlining is the world’s number one female DJ Charlotte de Witte, fresh from her performance at major EDM festival Tomorrowland.

Since his return to the Gold Coast from Melbourne recently he said he’s seen a push for a similar festival throughout the music scene.

“There hasn’t been an event of this kind since Summerfield Dayze, and the last one of that was in about 2013,” he said.

“I think it’s about time this sort of genre of festival came back for the Gold Coast community.

“All the production are local suppliers, all local staff, so we’re trying to keep it locally based so it’s still something for the community.

“There’s about 43 artists spread across the three stages, and circus performers, games, rides and activities.”

With a near sellout crowd of around 4000 now predicted, Mr James is hoping to turn Circus Paradise into a “regular occurrence”.

“The demographic is around 18-30 so it’s a good looking, young crowd who are into good music,” he said.

“This is the first one and we hope to do it on a regular basis every year and build it from here.”

Circus Paradise Music Festival will be held from 12-10pm, featuring Charlotte de Witte, Bag Raiders, LCD Soundsystem’s Gavin Rayne Russom and more.
