HIS competitive nature is normally a weapon for Gold Coast ironman Max Beattie but his personality trait became a flaw in the Big Brother house.
The four-time New Zealand Ironman Champion was the first contestant to be booted from the 2021 series on Monday night.

Twelve brand new housemates arrived and entered the house in the first episode and among them was Beattie’s ex-girlfriend, fitness trainer Katie.
Following the first nomination challenge of the series, mother of two Renata won the power to put three housemates up for eviction.
Renata nominated Beattie, flight attendant Christina and sheep farmer Melissa but a surprise twist put the power in the hands of Daniel and Nick – who had been hiding in the boiler room – to evict someone.

After an explosive debate, Nick made the decision not to wield his power, but Daniel took the opportunity to evict alpha the ironman, a perceived threat to his game.
Beattie said he was “devastated” to go first and the fact no one had to go on the first night “put salt in the wound”.
“I just would never do that to somebody. Danny voted for me because he’s insecure in his own abilities and he was more worried about me than he is about himself,” Beattie said.
“I think that’ll come back to bite him.”
Beattie revealed to the Bulletin that his athletic background and competitive nature “put a target on his back” in the Big Brother house.
He said before entering the Big Brother house he and the other contestants spent about five days in their Sydney hotel room.
The contestants had a chaperone to eliminate the risk of running into each other in the corridor and Beattie said everything was “very secretive”.
“We had five days of filming and because of the coronavirus they stash you in a room so the first thing I did when I got out was do a little workout,” he said.
“Let’s just say being a challenge threat puts a target on your back.”
Beattie said once filming had finished and it was time to enter the Big Brother house, they were blindfolded and driven to the location which took about an hour from their accommodation.
“I jumped in the car with a couple of other housemates but you can’t talk to each other,” he said.
“And I was stinging to go to the bathroom. I felt like I was going to bust when Sonia was interviewing me and I don’t even think I said hi to the other contestants, I just ran to the bathroom,” he said with a laugh.
Big Brother continues tonight from 7.30pm on Seven.
