Georgia Love reveals she’s moving to Channel 7 after leaving Ten last month

Former Bachelorette and Channel 10 newsreader Georgia Love has taken to Twitter with a surprise announcement this afternoon.

Georgia Love is moving to a new network after getting the chop from Channel 10 earlier this year.

The newsreader and former Bachelorette star made the announcement she’s heading to Channel 7 today, posting a subtle photo of a 7News microphone and camera.

“In some personal news …” the TV presenter wrote, tagging @7NewsMelbourne.

Details of her new position have not been specified.

Love, who starred as The Bachelorette in 2016, where she met fiance Lee Elliott, was dumped from what she described as her “dream job” at Channel 10 last month. She had held the roving reporter position for Ten Eyewitness News Melbourne for four years.

“Eight years ago I did two weeks’ work placement at @channeltennews and absolutely fell in love with the workings of a metro newsroom and knew I never wanted to do anything else with my life,” Love posted when she first bagged the job.

“Today, I worked my first day in that very newsroom.”

Following her sudden departure from the role, a Network 10 spokesperson said in a statement: “During her time with Network 10, Georgia Love made a valuable contribution as a freelance reporter.

“As with any casual position, the availability of work ebbs and flows with the requirements of the company.”

Shortly after the announcement, The Daily Telegraph reported that Love had exited the role under “mysterious circumstances”.

“Nothing was really said about it … one day a memo just went around saying that Georgia no longer works here’,” a network source said.

They went on to claim Love’s exit was likely part of the brutal COVID-19 cutbacks at the network last year, which saw least 25 jobs slashed.

Meanwhile, after being forced to scrap their plans for an Italian destination wedding last year, Love and Elliott will marry in Tasmania.

The couple were engaged in September 2019.
