Former Bachelorette favourite and burgeoning pyjama designer Georgia Love has quietly stepped away from her role at Channel 10 after four years as a roving reporter.
Love, who landed the gig back in 2017 on the back of her popular turn on season two of The Bachelorette, is believed to have departed the network late last year in what one Ten insider described as “mysterious circumstances”.
“Nothing was really said about it … one day a memo just went around saying that Georgia no longer works here’,” a network source said.
Love, who famously bagged the heart of mechanical plumber Lee Elliott on Ten’s top-rated date-a-thon, triumphantly announced her new gig with Ten four years ago and described the role of metro newsroom reporter as her “dream job”.
“Eight years ago I did two weeks’ work placement at @channeltennews and absolutely fell in love with the workings of a metro newsroom and knew I never wanted to do anything else with my life,” Love posted at the time.
“Today, I worked my first day in that very newsroom.”
A Network 10 spokesperson said:
“During her time with Network 10, Georgia Love made a valuable contribution as a freelance reporter. “As with any casual position, the availability of work ebbs and flows with the requirements of the company.”
A rep for Love declined to comment, however a friend close to the bubbly brunette said her gig with Ten was always a “freelance” arrangement and Love’s departure was merely part of a raft of COVID cutbacks.
It comes as a double blow for Love, who was also forced to cancel her wedding with Elliott last year due to the pandemic.
Her pyjama line Georgia Elliott, meanwhile, is still going strong.
