Brittany Hockley says Nick Cummins ‘blamed her’ for backlash after The Bachelor

Former Bachelor contestant Brittany Hockley has opened up about her mental health in a raw, emotional interview following her recent break-up from tennis star Jordan Thompson.

The 34-year-old co-host of the Life Uncut podcast, who partook in Nick Cummins’ infamous 2018 Bachelor season, sat down with KIIS Network’s Will & Woody for a candid discussion about her heartbreak-riddled journey for love.

Through tears, the former healthcare worker said she feels “unloved”, explaining that she’s been searching for ‘the one’ for the past ten years.

“I feel very unloved, like something must be wrong with me, like I’m the common denominator,” Hockley said.

The stunning podcast host said she can’t help but feel “unloved” after ten years of heartbreak.

“I’ve had like ten years of horrific things happening to me, some public, some very private. But I just feel like I can’t find love or feel loved. I always feel like, ‘Here I am again, I’m unloved again. I’m heartbroken again,’” she said as podcast co-host Laura Byrne looked on sympathetically.

“Do you think that this has been more amplified this year … feeling like being put back into the same place as last year?” asked Byrne.

Breaking down in tears, Hockley responded: “I had what I thought was finally love, and … yeah. It just puts you back a step.”

The brunette beauty and 28-year-old tennis player Jordan Thompson went their separate ways at the beginning of this year, citing difficulty maintaining a long-distance relationship as Thompson’s sporting career continued to take him abroad for months on end.

Speaking on Life Uncut after the split, Hockley said the break-up had been amicable, making it all the more difficult to recover from.

“There have been days I didn't get out of bed, there have been days I didn’t stop crying,” she confessed.

“There is not a story here. There is nothing that happened. It is the most beautiful and amicable break up … we're at a point of life where we couldn’t physically be together.”

Opening up about the brutal reality again this week, Hockley mused: “Healing isn’t linear, and sometimes it takes longer for other people and you have to work through other things. You can have amazing things in your life and amazing people but it doesn’t take away from the fact that you can still feel those things.”

Hockley rose to fame on Nick Cummins’ 2018 Bachelor season, which memorably saw no winning suitress in the finale, with both Hockley and Sophie Tieman dumped on national television.

Tieman tied the knot with “best friend” Joe Bolster last month, and Cummins is expecting a child with girlfriend Alexandra George.

Hockley and her Life Uncut co-host Byrne sat down with KIIS FM stars Will & Woody for the boys’ Share My Food campaign, in which they are encouraging Australians to share a meal and genuinely connect with the people in their life.

The initiative is an extension of the Share My Mood app the radio stars launched last year, driven by Will, who has been open about his struggles with depression.
