GOLD Coast social media influencers have been enjoying the Facebook and Instagram shut down and have taken the day off schedule paid posts to clean.
About one billion social media platform users have been without Facebook and Instagram for almost 12 hours.
The debacle has hit home for businesses and ‘influencers’ who rely on the platforms to make money.
Gold Coast full time ‘Instagrammer’ Gabby Epstein, 24, who has 2.2 million followers, relies on the platform for income.

Ms Epstein makes tens of thousands of dollars on each photo she posts.
Typically she shows off her lifestyle where she travels around the globe, modelling in stunning locations, but today she lives a slightly less glamorous life.
“I’ve just been at home cleaning the whole day,” she told the Bulletin.
“It’s kinda like a nice break to be honest.

“It’s like being on a long flight without your phone and being unable to check peoples status.
“I have things to post but I can post them another time … It is my full time job so I hope it’s not down for too long.”
Gold Coast YouTuber, Instagrammer and makeup artist Jasmine Hand, 24, also wasn’t too fazed by the shutdown but said there was a couple of people in the industry who were.
“Some influencers have paid sponsored posts that need to be up by a certain time,” she said.
Like Ms Epstein, Ms Hand was also spending the time tidying and filming for YouTube.
“It’s been a bit weird. I wake up and check my social media pages and then I show what I’m up to throughout the day.
“I can get my house chores and all that done.
“It’s crazy because the whole world has stopped because there’s no social media.

“It’s a bit annoying but life goes on and there’s more important things to focus on.”
Former Big Brother contestant turned influencer Skye Wheatley managed to post to her Instagram story telling her fans her phone network provider wasn’t aware the platform was down.
“Haha y’all need to get off your phones … including me,” it read.
“I just freaked out because I couldn’t post on my story. SAD.”
There has been no official reason of why social media platforms are glitching, but Facebook posted on Twitter saying they were working on resolving the issue as soon as possible.
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” the post reads.
