Former Married At First Sight contestant Booka Nile has suffered a tragic family loss, just hours after giving birth to her first baby.

Nile, who appeared in the 2021 season of Nine’s hit reality show, announced on Monday that she’d given birth to her first child, a baby boy.

But hours later, a new update via her Instagram stories revealed that her happiness was now tinged with grief.

“This has been such a bittersweet time,” Booka wrote.

“Hours after my baby boy drew his first breath this weekend my nana drew her last. And as my dad became a grandfather for the first time, he lost his mother.”

“RIP Nana. We love you. You are missed already.”

She included footage of her late grandmother rubbing her pregnant belly, and a photo of the two of them posing together.

Nile first revealed her pregnancy last year, saying that an unnamed male friend was the baby’s father. She since revealed that friend to be Perth former boxer Luke Millar, with the pair planning to co-parent together.

Revealing the news last September, Nile said the pregnancy had taken them both by surprise.

“Motherhood was not something I ever thought I’d experience,” she said.

“It just didn’t feel like it could or would ever happen for me.’”

Explosive MAFS drama we didn’t see

Meanwhile, while there was plenty of drama across Married At First Sight’s explosive two-part season finale last week, according to one cast member, there were even more bombshell moments viewers didn’t get to see.

One of the brides from this season spoke anonymously to the Daily Mail, revealing that producers were forced to intervene after a “war of words” broke out between several of her castmates, leaving everyone “screaming at each other” and “wanting time in front of the camera”.

She also claimed that Melissa Sheppard was “inconsolable” and felt “sl*t-shamed” after seeing the way she had been portrayed on the show and stormed off set.

“Melissa was a mess. She was crying and inconsolable. Jesse [Burford] was there with her trying to calm her down until a producer walked over to try and talk to her,” the source said.

“Melissa was having none of it and didn’t want a bar of production, she ripped off her microphone and announced she was leaving.”

The bride added that producers “knew they did her wrong and let her walk out”, without drawing attention to her abrupt exit.
