Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore stun fans in Instagram snap

It’s been years since Cameron Diaz has graced a red carpet, so fans were thrilled this week to see the reclusive star with her A-list bestie.

From Cameron Diaz to Rick Moranis, why these stars walked away from Hollywood

Six years after she officially turned her back on acting, Cameron Diaz has popped up on Instagram in a stunning new snap with famous pal Drew Barrymore.

The former Charlie’s Angels co-stars were glowing in the picture, with Barrymore, 46, writing: “Bestie hour with my bestie poo poo!”

The actresses have remained close friends since working on the Charlie’s Angels films back in 2000 and 2003 alongside Lucy Liu, with Diaz appearing on the very first episode of The Drew Barrymore Show last year.

Any glimpse of the 46-year-old mum-of-one is welcomed by fans these days, given she has all but disappeared from Hollywood.

Diaz opened up about retiring in an interview earlier this year, telling podcast Quarantined With Bruce that she is focused on being a mother to one-year-old daughter Raddix Madden, who was born in December 2019 after the star kept her plans to have a child under wraps.

“Will I ever make a movie again? I’m not looking to, but will I? I don’t know. I have no idea,” Diaz said in the interview.

“Maybe, never say never,” she said. “But I couldn’t imagine being a mum now where I’m at as a mother, with my child at her first year, to have to be on a movie set that takes 14 hours, 16 hours of my day away from my child.

“I just feel so blessed that I get to be here now with my child and, you know, get to be the mother that I get to be,” she said.

“It’s such a blessing, it’s completely privileged, and I’m just really, really grateful.”

While fans may be disappointed by Diaz no longer starring in films, they were thrilled to see her on Instagram, flocking to comment on Barrymore’s post.

Gushing over both stars’ appearances, one fan said: “Beauty without filters and enhancers, this is what social media needs more of.”

Another wrote, “Love you you’re embracing your age gracefully.”

Diaz has been open about cosmetic procedures in the past, telling Entertainment Tonight in 2014 that she has tried Botox, but immediately regretted it afterwards.

“I’ve tried [Botox] before, where it was like [a] little tiny touch of something. It changed my face in such a weird way that I was like, ‘No, I don’t want to [be] like [that].’ I’d rather see my face ageing than a face that doesn’t belong to me at all.”

She went on to say she loves how her face has changed naturally.

“I love it, I don’t mind. It’s like, ‘Guess what this means, I’ve smiled my whole life.’ I love life. I’m happy I don’t have a problem with that.”

Diaz has made few public appearances since retreating from the spotlight, reflecting on her career on Barrymore’s talk show last year.

“No aspect of life is a Hollywood fairytale. That’s why it’s a Hollywood fairytale, because it doesn’t exist. Life is full of twists and turns,” she said.

The star’s last acting role was 2014’s poorly received Annie remake.
