Six years after she officially turned her back on Hollywood, Cameron Diaz has just made a surprising new appearance.

Cameron Diaz surprises with rare screen appearance six years after retirement

Six years after she formally retired from the acting business, Cameron Diaz is back on screen – if only for a few seconds.

Diaz, 47, is one of several A-list participants in the new ‘Boss Bitch Fight Challenge’, devised by Hollywood stuntwoman Zoe Bell.

The premise is simple: Each woman in the video performs a kick-ass stunt to the camera, passing the ‘fight’ on to the next participant. Bell enlisted a mix of behind-the-scenes stunt performers and well-known Hollywood actresses to take part in the five-minute video, with some very believable – and sometimes brutal – stunts on show.

Among the big names, you’ll spot Aussie Margot Robbie wielding a baseball bat, Halle Berry leaping backwards into a pool and Scarlett Johansson firing up in her home gym.

But amid all these stars, the biggest surprise is Diaz’s brief appearance. She has kept a low profile since her final film role, playing Miss Hannigan in the poorly-reviewed 2014 remake of the musical Annie. Since then, she published a self-help manual, The Longevity Book, in 2016, and has invested in several health and biotech start-ups. In January this year Diaz and her husband Benji Madden announced the birth of their first child together, a daughter with the unusual name of Raddix .

Since her breakthrough role in the 1994 Jim Carrey comedy The Mask, Diaz became one of Hollywood’s most bankable leading women, with hits like My Best Friend’s Wedding, Charlie’s Angels and the Shrek series.

But in a rare interview with InStyle last year, Diaz explained why she was happy to turn her back on the industry.

“I started (experiencing fame) when I was 22, so 25 years ago that’s a long time,” Diaz said. “I’ve given more than half of my life to the public. I feel it’s okay for me to take time for myself now to reorganise and choose how I want to come (back) into the world. I don’t miss performing.”

So for now, this brief view of Diaz channelling her stunt-heavy Charlie’s Angels past, 49 seconds into the Boss Bitch challenge, will have to tide fans over:
