BROADBEACH is about to get even louder with 48 acts announced for the annual Blues on Broadbeach.
The free annual music festival, back for its 19th year, is expected to see more than 200,000 people attend and enjoy 200 hours of live entertainment across 20 performance areas.
Some of the biggest names in blues from Australia and around the world, including Tommy Emmanuel, Gabby Moreno and Sydney’s Bootleg Rascal, will be headed to the city for the four-day event held from May 14 to 17.
One of the festival’s headliners will be The Black Sorrows, fronted by ARIA Hall of Famer Joe Camilleri, who said he’s “truly excited”.
“I think this will be our fourth appearance. Over the past years I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the growth of this festival,” Mr Camilleri said.
“The production is incredible, the atmosphere is electric and the music top-notch.”
Blues on Broadbeach festival director Mark Duckworth said the festival has become an important part of the suburb’s cultural identity.
“We are excited to invite such varied, dynamic and talented acts from Australia and overseas to Blues on Broadbeach this year to experience the festival’s fun, energetic and welcoming vibe,”he said.
Blues on Broadbeach is supported by the Queensland Government and in 2019 was worth $800m to the state’s economy.
