The latest tenancy to undergo a major refurbishment as part of ongoing works being rolled out at the Oasis Shopping Centre since 2015, the Broadbeach Tavern will unveil its new facilities and fresh interior in September.

The venue is owned by the giant ALH Group, which operates more than 330 licensed venues and more than 550 retail liquor outlets across Australia.

On the Gold Coast, ALH Group’s assets include the Lonestar Tavern, Miami Tavern, Surfers Paradise Tavern & Beergarden, Dublin Docks Tavern, Hinterland Hotel, South Tweed Tavern, Parkwood Tavern, The Palm Beach Hotel, Burleigh Heads Hotel, Varsity Lakes Tavern, Commercial Hotel, Anglers Arms Hotel, Cecil Hotel and the Dog & Parrot Tavern.
The Broadbeach Tavern is located at the eastern end of the Oasis — the shopping centre that sits on the site once occupied by the five-storey Lennon’s Hotel.
The Coast’s tallest building when it opened on December 17, 1956, the hotel was demolished in 1987, with the Oasis opening in its place two years later.
The tavern has become a popular destination for locals and tourists over the years, including US actor Jason Momoa, who visited its Beach Bar several times with Aquaman castmates including Temeura Morrison and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II while they were filming on the Gold Coast last year.
While the tavern’s bottle shop and Beach Bar are still open, the kitchen has been closed during the rebuild, which includes a new gaming room with its own private bar, improved pedestrian access to the Oasis and new entrances to the tavern.
Broadbeach Alliance CEO Jan McCormick said the project was great news for the precinct.
“It is wonderful to see Broadbeach continue to reinvent itself and reinforce that it is the hip entertainment and dining hub of the Gold Coast,” she said.

“In the past 12 months we have seen the upgrade of Surf Parade, completion of The Star Grand upgrade, the opening of The Darling, new options for patrons in the dining precinct at Pacific Fair, a complete upgrade of The Oasis.
“Now, with the Broadbeach Tavern’s million-dollar makeover nearing competition, the eastern end of the mall will complement the Sofitel and Loose Moose at the western end.
“Combined with the recently opened Kurrawa Surf Club, the iconic ELK and easy access to the happening Oracle Boulevard, it will be the hip place to hang out this summer.
“Broadbeach has it all waiting for everyone to discover.”
