Adele’s unimpressed Grammys reaction we all missed
Adele did not seem too happy about the winner of the night’s top award at yesterday’s Grammys, with her reaction caught on camera.

It’s the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Grammys moment we all missed yesterday – Adele looking less than thrilled in the moments after Harry Styles was announced as the winner of the night’s top award.
Footage from the event shows former One Direction star Styles burying his head in his hands as his album Harry’s House was announced as the Album of The Year. All those around him – including friend and fellow nominee Lizzo – leapt to their feet for a standing ovation.
But as Lizzo embraced Styles, another Album of the Year nominee could briefly be seen behind them, staying seated and offering a tight smile and polite applause.
Another angle from inside the venue shows Adele’s reaction exactly as Harry was announced as the winner of the award – again, her reaction was in marked contrast to those around her:

Another Adele moment from Harry’s speech also circulated on social media, as the star appeared to push past Lizzo to leave while Harry was still mid-speech:

But all was not what it seemed there, because moments later Adele was shown standing alongside Lizzo as Harry finished his speech:

Some might consider Adele’s immediate reaction sour grapes, given her album 30 was nominated in the same category. However, given her recent Grammys history, it’s more likely she was sharing in the disbelief that many expressed that Beyonce’s Renaissance did not receive the Grammys’ top gong.
Adele herself famously spoke out on Beyonce’s behalf when her previous album 25 beat Beyonce’s Lemonade to win Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammys.
“My artist of my life is Beyonce, and the Lemonade album is so monumental,” she said as she accepted the award. She was more blunt addressing reporters in the press room after the win: “I felt it was her time to win,” she said. “What the f**k does she have to do to win album of the year? That’s how I feel.”
This is the fourth time Beyonce has been nominated for – and lost – the Album of the Year award at the Grammys. Before her 2017 loss to Adele, in 2010 her I Am … Sasha Fierce lost to Taylor Swift’s Fearless, and in 2015 her acclaimed self-titled album lost to Beck’s Morning Phase.
However, it certainly wasn’t all bad news for Beyonce yesterday, as she picked up four Grammys – including a gong for Best Dance / Electronic Album – taking her total number of Grammy Awards to 32, the most of any artist to date.
Meanwhile, Styles was met with a backlash for one line in his Album of the Year speech, when he told the audience that “This doesn’t happen to people like me very often.”
Among those also nominated in Styles’ category were openly gay singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile, Peurto Rican singer Bad Bunny – whose Un Verano Sin Ti was the first Spanish-language album up for Album of the Year – and Lizzo, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce. Had any of those three artists won, they would’ve been the first Black female Album of the Year winner since Lauryn Hill in 1999.
