Aaron Gocs: Gocsy reveals story behind new comedy show

He passed up his job as a tradie after the video went viral and entered the world of comedy, now Gocsy reveals just why he has come to the Gold Coast.

AFTERS years of doing stand-up, an hilarious Australian comedian is ready to take a seat.

Aaron Gocs, who goes by the name of Gocsy, rose to fame in 2016 after he uploaded his “classic stitch up” skit to YouTube.

He passed up his job as a tradie after the video went viral and entered the world of comedy.

Since, he’s performed stand-up all over the country and is one of Australia’s most recognised comedians, often stopped by punters in public to get a snap.

But this year he’s ready to sit down, kick back and try something new.

“Last year’s show was more of a life story. It was a bit emotional, a few sad moments. But I’m ditching that this year,” he said.

“I wanted to release the shackles a bit because I’ve done stand up for the past few years so I wanted to mix it up a bit.”

His new show, which will be shown at HOTA in Bundall for the GC Laughs Festival, is called Gocsy Tonight.

“It’s like a copy of those tele-talk shows like Letterman, Rove, Leno - that kind of thing.

“I grew up watching those shows. I was heavily influenced by them.

“I’ll be seated at a desk and have a few guests, chat with the audience, do some trivia and give away some prizes. I’ve put my own spin on it. I’m really looking forward to it.”

While in the city for his show, he admits he will be sticking to his tradition where he dines at a local cafe and trials their big brekky.

“I will have to find somewhere, he said. “I love to get up there and back to my home area. I’m excited about that.”

Gocsy will be one of 25 comedians - from Em Rusciano and Joel Creasey - who will be performing at GC Laughs held at Home Of The Arts in Bundall from March 14 to 21.
