2019 Logies: Stars praise Gold Coast’s ‘relaxed’ attitude, fight for it to become new awards home

STARS crowding the red carpet at The Star have praised the Gold Coast’s “relaxed” attitude as they arrive for the 2019 Logies.
Dozens of celebrities have already arrived in Broadbeach to walk the red carpet, including Karl Stefanovic and Carrie Bickmore.
“Having the Logies on the Gold Coast is one of the greatest things they could have done,” The Project host said.

“Last red carpet I was pregnant so I’m looking forward to having champagne and some soft cheeses.”
Her fellow The Project star Peter Helliar shared her sentiments.
“I love the Gold Coast, as Victorians we love coming up here, it’s great,” he said.
“It feels really relaxed. It’s nice it’s a bit warmer, I think the ladies are appreciating that.

“There’s a nice vibe and it’s great to catch up with everyone.”
Acting Mayor Donna Gates has said she’ll fight for the Gold Coast to become the “real home” of the awards ceremony.
“It’s fantastic for the Gold Coast, it’s so exciting to see everyone here,” she said.
“I love it. We love it. We all love it. No one throws a party like the Gold Coast.”

Tourism minister Kate Jones arrived on the red carpet was wearing a gown by Brisbane designer Sasha Drake and said revealed how much the Logies bringing in for the city.
“It’s given the Gold Coast about $63 million in exposure,” she said.
“We saw celebrities swimming in the ocean this morning. You don’t get that in Melbourne.”
When asked if she would fight to retain the event on the Gold Coast, the Minister said “Of course”.
