TWO Gold Coast state schools are leading the way and getting creative to fundraise for better facilities for their students.
Palm Beach-Currumbin State High School and Helensvale State High School both made the top 100 in the country in getting money from private sources — including fundraising.
Palm Beach was the second highest placed government school at 56 bringing in more than $2.8 million.

The southern Gold Coast school has generated some of its private income from P & C market days, hiring out facilities and even production company fees as the school is occasionally used for film and television.
Helensvale was just a few places behind at number 75 and raking in more than $2.4 million.
Helensvale hires its facilities and also hosts markets to bring in the extra cash.

The figures come using data from the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
The figures include “donations, interest of bank accounts, profits on trading, activities and profits from sale of assets”, as well as income from fundraising and capital purposes.
The Bulletin has continued the analysis, finding the Gold Coast’s richest and largest schools are raking in more than $100 million over a three-year period.
