New name for Coast school to be revealed

GOLD COAST locals are getting the chance to name the city’s newest school.
Two names have been put forward for the new primary school at Pimpama, with votes closing at the end of the week.
The top two names which came from the community include Gainsborough State School and Bimbimba state school.
The name Gainsborough has been taken from the golf course in the area, a longtime landmark of the suburb.

The name Bimbimba was taken from the local indigenous dialect - Pimpama was derived from this name originally.
Those voting will also be asked to state their preference between ‘State School’ or ‘State Primary College’.
