Coronavirus Gold Coast: home to state’s last COVID-19 case

The Gold Coast is now the only city in Queensland to have an active coronavirus case, as outbreaks continue elsewhere in the country.

THE GOLD COAST is now home to the state’s last and only active coronavirus case, as those isolated with the virus continue to recover.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk today also confirmed that no new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Queensland in the last 24 hour period.

There is now just one active case in Queensland, the final of the State’s 1067 confirmed infections.

“I can advise Queenslanders that once again we have had zero new cases,” Premier Palaszczuk said.

“That is wonderful news especially when we have seen the easing of restrictions it is absolutely fantastic news that Queensland is doing a wonderful job.”

The State government also today confirmed it would be sending 27 nurses from Brisbane to assist with the outbreak in Victoria.

The Premier also thanked locals for getting out to support local businesses over the weekend after a long shutdown period.

“Can I thank everyone for going out and supporting their local cafes, restaurants, RSLs, Surf clubs,” she said.

“All reports are a majority of people were doing the right thing.”

“As we have seen it is very easy for a few cases to increase quite dramatically, as we have seen in Victoria.”
