HE calls himself the Keto King but Peter Andros is no stranger to a good cheat day.
Now the Gold Coast fitness guru is bringing iconic franchise Doughnut Time back from the dead, as they prepare to re-open in Burleigh Heads.
The brand closed its doors earlier this year after shutting down dozens of stores around the country and going into liquidation.
Mr Andros said his passion for the “young, cool brand” started with a love of the product, which only grew when he saw the opportunity to save it.
“I love a treat day, I’m pretty health conscious but I’m not one of those strict, ‘don’t eat the cake at the birthday’ kind of guys,” he said.

“I was one of the guys that loved going to Doughnut Time and I was one of the guys standing in the line when it first launched.
“I just wanted to get on board, it felt like a shame to lose it.”
It’s not Mr Andros’ first foray into the business world, having previously started “Norti Nutrition”, a popular health food brand.
He said he hopes to bring gluten free, dairy-free and even sugar-free options to the Doughnut Time menu in future.
“Hopefully people notice the difference and hopefully we give another option to people that couldn’t eat them before,” he said.
This is the first of a total five locations that look set to open over the coming year.
