The leasehold to the McLaren’s Landing resort on South Stradbroke Island has come to the market after receivers were appointed to a company linked to controversial businessman Jason Nicholls.
HTL Property’s Glenn Price and Brent McCarthy are marketing the 1.17ha property on behalf of receivers and managers Tracy Knight and Damien Lau of Bentleys in Brisbane,
The latter pair were appointed in March this year at the behest of mortgagee Commonwealth Bank to Tall Ship Sailing Cruises Australia Pty Ltd, which held the leasehold to McLaren’s Landing.
The sole director of the company is Jason Nicholls, who is currently facing fraud charges in the Southport Magistrates Court for allegedly using thousands of dollars of deposits from Christmas parties to fund a gambling habit. Mr Nicholls operated a boat and tour operation to McLaren’s Landing.
