Plans have been unveiled for a new brewery and restaurant which has been earmarked for a surprise Gold Coast location near the beach.
Padre Beer will be built on Miami’s Ozone Parade and will feature brewing facilities, as well as a bar and shop for patrons.
Put forward by Dubzed Developments, it will be the latest small brewery to open in the city’s central and southern areas, which include Balter Bewery, Tank Bar and Brewing, Hard Fizz and Granddad Jacks.
“The primary focus of the brewery is to deliver a land use which seeks to meet the high demand of the local catchment for alternative and specialised alcohol consumption experiences within social and intimate built environments,” a report on the project submitted to the council reads.
“This high demand is demonstrated through the popularity of both larger and smaller scale breweries on the Gold Coast.
“The site is well located within the Miami Entertainment Precinct/Industrial Estate which provides a wide range of activities with access to Pacific Ave, being one of the City’s notable east-west connectors that connects to the Gold Coast Highway to the south and Markeri Street to the north.
“Notably, the entertainment based activities, which take up a large percentage of the land uses within the estate, are often accessed by patrons via public and/or active transport.
“The proposed development seeks to further strengthen the mix of services provided within the locality without unduly compromising the future use of the subject site for industrial activities. Furthermore, the proposed land uses seek to meet the high demand of the local catchment for a brewery which can provide patrons with an environment that enables a high level of social interaction.”
It will go before council’s planning committee for approval later this year.
