The Gold Coast’s Ferrari-driving mayor and his wife have secured another high-end vehicle with the famous prancing horse insignia.
Mr Tate, who has owned several cars from the Maranello-based luxury car manufacturer, revealed on Tuesday that he had bought a 2024 Ferrari Purosangue, a four-wheel drive.
It retails from nearly $400,000.
The car enthusiast Mayor said mayoress Ruth Tate would be doing most of the driving in the four-seat V12 Italian supercar.
“I think Ruth will be using it, she’s the best driver in our household so see how we go but a great thing about that brand is that what you pay for it, the price goes up when you sell it, so in a way if you sell it for more than what you paid for it, it ends up being a cheap car.
“The colour is yet to be revealed but it will be a very special colour.
“It’s called a Purosangue, Which I think is Italian for purebred, so it’s interesting, a half-breed buying a purebred but that’s OK.”
