Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

The first beer will be poured at the newly revamped Kirra Beach Hotel on November 27 as the finishing touches are put on its new $380m home.

The beachfront pub closed its doors in February 2021 but will reopen as part of the first stage of developer KTQ Group’s Kirra Point Precinct.

Publican and licensee Greg ‘Hodgy’ Hodge will lead the team which will run the venue and said that, while it was a new-looking pub, its history dating back to 1956 was still present.

“The Kirra Beach Hotel has always been a place where you can relax and be on a

first name basis with our staff and anyone is welcome, and those core values haven’t changed,” he said.

“We are very proud of what we have created and know it’s going to be a space that our locals will love.

“We’re very fortunate to have such a strong and connected community here.

“This venue has always meant a lot to the locals and we really appreciate their patience and support over the last few years. We are so excited for the door to be back open, get back behind the bar, and show you the new-look pub.”

The pub will cover 1300sq m of floorspace, including a beer garden, sports bar, bistro and boutique bottle shop.

It will be followed in December by the opening of the Kirra Beach House, a 1200sq m “elevated beachfront dining, drinking and event destination with an unparalleled and unobstructed view of the shimmering blue horizon of ocean and sky from every vantage point in the venue”.

The venue will be operated by SITE Hospitality boss Dave Galvin who has already made his mark on the Gold Coast region with venues such as Kōst in Broadbeach and Mozza Mozza in Southport.

The three-tower Kirra Point project is taking shape after nearly three years of construction, with the first residents moving in by early 2024.

The multi-tower development, which has been in the works for 11 years, is the brainchild of KTQ owner Peggy Flannery, with the 116-unit first tower above the pub set to open in early 2024.

A collection of units in the tower will be launched to the market next year as hotel unit accommodation.
