Hollywood director Baz Luhrmann, who produced the blockbuster Elvis movie on the Gold Coast, might have to find new digs after his rental was sold for a massive profit.

Baz Luhrmann, who produced the Elvis movie on the Gold Coast, might have to find new digs in the wake of the home he has rented overlooking the beach at Miami hitting the market around the $7m mark.
The property, which has been returning close to $200,000 a year, is a renovated 1960s abode on a 405 sqm lot.
The property’s seller is trustee company RPGC Investments, which ASIC records show is solely directed by Surjit Singh and jointly held by Mr Singh and wife Czarina.
RPGC bought the property for $3.9m in December 2020.
Stoner’s old digs hit $11 million
Tony Hand, an expat who’s been selling property in places such as Japanese ski fields, is the buyer who’s spent $11 million on the one-time Sanctuary Cove home of former motorcycle champion Casey Stoner.
The buy is Tony’s second waterfront foray into the Gold Coast market in little more than a year – he spent $5.15m on a Mermaid Waters property in August last year and sold it for $5.3m in March.
His Cove buy is Laguna, a 2009 housing-award winner with five bedrooms.
Tech company founder’s penthouse fetches $10 million
Nick Gordon, founder of Kiwi communications company Zintel, is believed to have achieved a sale at close to $10 million for a beachfront penthouse in Surfers Paradise.
Nick and wife Andrea bought the four-bedroom Northcliffe Residences property for $6m off the plan in 2016 and settled the buy in 2019.
The couple, who previously owned a sub-penthouse in Surfers tower Artique, put $10.25m on the Northcliffe penthouse after it failed to sell at auction last month.
