Clarkson is a former director of Bidding Buzz Pty Ltd, which offered self-directed and personal mentoring courses to people who wanted to learn about selling on eBay.
An ASIC investigation found that Clarkson lodged a document with ASIC to voluntary deregister Bidding Buzz on July 25, 2019, stating that the company had no outstanding liabilities.
However, Bidding Buzz owed $20,059 to a creditor.
Clarkson was convicted and fined $2000 in the Southport Magistrates Court on November 16.
He was also disqualified from managing corporations until November 15, 2025.
Bidding Buzz’s LinkedIn profile describes it as the “world’s No. 1 eBay education company” that is “leading the way to showing people how to set up a successful eBay business”.
It says Clarkson found success two years after starting to sell on eBay in 2006.
