Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Monday, March 31. The ASX 200 index closed 1.7 per cent lower to 7843.40 points with all sectors in the red, led by mining and tech stocks.
Wall Street ended Friday with sharp falls as the S&P 500 sank 2 per cent, the Dow Jones index fell 1.7 per cent and the technology-focused Nasdaq shed 2.7 per cent.
Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin is above $US83,000 at 5.10pm AEDT.
The Aussie dollar is trading around US62.81c.
