CONTROVERSIAL fitness guru Ashy Bines has agreed to lend her name to a clothing line from one of Australia’s largest streetwear brands.

Baseline IP and TF Apparel, companies linked to Gold Coast-born clothing juggernaut Culture Kings, have applied to trademark a range of athletic, casual and dance clothing, as well as fabrics and footwear, under the name “Baseline by Ashy Bines”.

The application, submitted on August 8, is due for acceptance by November 26, 2020.

Culture Kings owner Simon Beard said the trademark application was one of many his companies filed and did not necessarily mean a Bines-Culture Kings collaboration would go ahead and “nothing is final”.

“It’s not like a potential thing. What we do is just file trademarks anyway,” Mr Beard said from the United States, where he was on holiday this week.

“Because it takes so long to register, we have just (applied) for a heap of different ones.

“It can take ages, people can dispute it,” he said.

“We do a bit of private label manufacturing.”

Steven Evans, Mrs Bines’s husband and business partner, told the Bulletin: “We are always exploring new opportunities to grow the brand and TF Apparel is one we are considering.

“They have registered a trademark for a potential new venture with us, anticipated to commence in the second half of 2020.

“All details are currently in commercial confidence.”

Mr Evans also confirmed the Instagram handle @baselinebyashybines “was not registered” by him.

News of a potential new Bines venture comes six weeks after the Bulletin revealed the fitness figure, who found fame with her Ashy Bines Bikini Body Challenge, had slimmed down her Mermaid Beach-based gym.

The Ashy Bines Transformation Centre (TC) at Pacific Square trimmed from two tenancies spanning 1000sq m to one shop across 700sq m.

Classes were also cut and weekly membership fees dropped from $29.99 to $9.99.
