A man charged over the “one-punch” killing of a Gold Coast dad has been revealed as the son of a dead bikie boss.
Alex Rasic, son of former Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang national sergeant-at-arms Simon “The King” Rasic, was arrested at Maroochydore on Thursday over the death of Coast man Michael Hayes, 39, at Sanctuary Cove last weekend.
Mr Hayes died in Gold Coast University Hospital on Thursday, four days after he was allegedly assaulted outside the Destino Wine and Cocktail Bar at Sanctuary Cove.
Rasic, 24, was charged with unlawful striking causing death. He did not appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.
He was remanded in custody and his case was adjourned to Southport Magistrates Court for a bail application on June 7.
The heavily-tattooed Simon Rasic died suddenly of natural causes in 2014, aged just 43.
Alex Rasic was seen wearing designer sunglasses and a diamond-encrusted watch while carrying his father’s coffin at the funeral, attended by hundreds of bikies.
Social media photos later showed him flaunting his extravagant lifestyle, including Sydney Harbour cruises, luxury cars and wads of cash.
