Police have charged a 24-year-old Hope Island man after the death of a Sanctuary Cove father from an alleged one-punch attack.
Michael Hayes, 39, died in a Gold Coast hospital on Thursday after a five-day fight for life following an alleged serious assault at Sanctuary Cove on Saturday.
A 24-year-old has been charged with unlawful striking causing death after he was arrested at a Maroochydore address on Thursday.
Police will allege they were called to Sanctuary Cove’s Destino Wine and Cocktail Bar about 9.20pm on Saturday to reports a 39-year-old had been punched in the face by another man who fled the scene on foot.
The 24-year-old Hope Island man is due to appear at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.
