Bolton was wanted for the revocation of his parole when Tuggerah Lakes police saw him in a Mitsubishi Lancer on Tuggerah Parade at 10.20am and began a pursuit before the Lancer allegedly rammed a police car.

Bolton ditched the vehicle a short time later, with footage shot from a passing car showing him sprinting from police down Campbell Ave, opposite The Entrance Public School.

One of the men in the vehicle is heard saying “He’s got a gun, we gotta f***n get out of here”.

Police said Bolton turned and allegedly pointed a .22 calibre rifle at himself and a hand gun towards police.

Bolton, who is well known to police on the Central Coast, had been released from jail in recent months on graffiti and weapons offences however The Daily Telegraph understands he was wanted for the revocation of his parole when officers spotted him yesterday.

Assistant Commissioner Max Mitchell said the investigation would examine who fired which bullet.

“Who fired what shot – that all needs to be determined and investigated thoroughly and from a forensics point of view that will be determined in due course,” Mr Mitchell said yesterday.
