Actor Robert Hughes denied parole

Convicted paedophile Robert Hughes has again been refused parole at his annual hearing.

This is the second time the former Hey Dad! Star has been knocked back by the parole authority who say the child abuser remains an “unacceptable risk to the community”.

Hughes has been behind bars since May 2014 for sexually and indecently assaulting four girls, including young co-star Sarah Monahan, over a period of 20 years in the 1980s and 1990s.

The dual citizen had been approved to serve the remainder of his decade-long sentence in his native UK.

He renounced his Australian citizenship, but he then suddenly withdrew his transfer application.

That meant once released on parole he will immediately be deported to the UK where he would be free to roam without an electronic ankle bracelets or any other release conditions.

On Thursday, the parole authority released a statement saying his release without parole supervision overseas would not “meet the community safety test”.

He is serving a maximum 10 years and nine month sentence, expiring January 6, 2025.

His non-parole period of six years expired in 2020.
